Cancun, Mexico..your almost here.

Very excited to be going to Cancun, Mexico soon.  Very soon, like all next week soon.  I am truly excited, my oldest sister and I need it.  We deserve it. (Boasting and I don't care) We are some hard working girls who both need some me time.  And what better way to do it but to get out the States over that Boarder and into the tropics.  To just get away and not have answer to anyone is plus but the bonus of all inclusive resort stay is truly the icing on the cake.  So, here's what I packed so far:

Not a gosh darn thing...haha!  (Besides my passport)
I know I am so behind but, I have every outfit picked out, along with my swimsuits, books that I have been meaning to finish and of course my sketch book. Unfortunately  there will be no blog posts next week.  I am certain there's Wi-Fi at the resort because I will be able to at least post some pics from my phone to mytumblr.  So your welcome to check that out in the meantime.  Although, I will missing out on the Caribana Festival this year, reflection time definitely needed.

Dear Conde Nast-No Vogue Africa?

These gorgeous Vogue Covers will not be published....because Conde Nast.  The corporation that owns Vanity Fair, Glamour, Allure, Vogue, GQ, W, WWD, Style, etc)  lifted up their noses and said no.

No to African Vogue.  Why? I have no idea.

Ever since I was little I've had a magazine in my hand.  Loved the glossy pages filled with the latest designer clothing and the supermodels behind them.  Vogue was my ultimate fashion bible and if it had even a little bit of fashion spread with a black model...I was all over it.

July 2008-I practically fought a woman (white woman) tooth and nail to grab two copies of the All Black Italian Vogue issue. It was so huge for me!!! Which ended up being the most wanted issue ..Ever.
They (Conde Nast) ran out of issues so fast that they had print 10,000 more copies due to the demand.

So what's the problem?  Having a monthly Vogue issue that features majority African models is too much?  Or are we just allowed one issue per year to grace your covers?  Oh, and you have to be a celebrity.  Okay, I am off my soapbox but, when I heard about this, I had to share.  Here are some Vogue Africa test covers that photographer Mario Epanya photographed and submitted to Conde Nast.

Who Killed the King-Fashion Exhibit.

Who killed the King: Eight fashion designers who designed these conceptual sculpted, costume pieces based off of chess pieces.  I love it.  So cool...with chess in mind and of course the title of the exhibit: Who killed the King? It makes me want to learn how to play chess all over again. (Oh, I was good...well okay) lol!

Miu Miu Fall 2010 Collection-Love. Love. Love.

I am ready for Fall.  Seriously...this summer I am done with...well, after my vacation to Cancun, Mexico in a few weeks...I am so ready for Fall.  This humid, hotness mess has got to end. After seeing Miu Miu Fall 2010 collection, Fall season here I come. That fantastic burnt yellow color, the lush green color,  the 60's inspired pieces, textured tights, kitten heels with bow, high collar wool coats oh, and the bows...absolutely adorable..I am in love.

Fall 2010 Miu Miu 1960's inspired collection,  I am so in love with.  It's my favorite era of fashion and I can't wait to try the trend on this Fall.

Creating a Creative Space...

As an artist, its important to find a space to work in.  A closet, an extra room, a studio...well for me.... I never had one.  I just worked where ever I could find space.  Kitchen table, Living room, Dining room, in my bed, on the porch. Where ever you really are not suppose to create from...I created from.  Was it comfortable? No.  Did I make huge messes in the end? Yes.  So, doing some research on how important it is to make a creative space for myself.  I decided I would give it a try this week.  I bought a drafting table for $3.00 at a garage sale so I could I finally get rid of my dilapidating wooden desk that is literally on its last leg.  There's this great corner in my room that I plan on surrounding myself with inspirational photos, paintings etc. so I can seriously paint & illustrate.

Easier said than done, though.

I secretly think I am borderline hoarder...its weird because I tend to organize my "junk".  I have notebooks for days, sewing patterns,  that I bought about 5 years ago and old pictures in my dilapidating desk.  Some things I want to keep....other's I need to seriously get rid of.  So here's to creating my space.  My goal is to have done next weekend....let's get it started!

Sketches...

My 100th post! Yay!  I have a few sketches I've drawn

Brooke Shaden-my new favorite photographer...

Brooke Shaden I literally stumbled across her site on-line and I had to blog about her. I found that her photography is out right...breathtaking and sort of haunting at the same time.  Brooke Shaden a graduate of Temple University in English and Film with a passion for visual storytelling..and it seriously shows.  Talk about defining gravity....take a look.

WARNING: Some of photos are a little haunting but, I am really good with "weird" so I love it.

Now Playing...

Flesh Tone

I really love Kelis.  She is such an original!  I can not say how much I love this album.  It has a Dance/Electonic sound which is definetely different than her other albums.  But, for what its worth...its great to workout too. Rating A-

Absolutely Stunning-Givenchy Fall 2010 Haute Couture

Yes! I do love a well dressed man!

I am just being honest...nothing like a well dressed man to heighten the senses.  Great fitted jacket, suit, pants on man's physique (no matter what size a man is) could really kick up the appearance ALOT.  I mean...really guys..baggy pants should only be worn around the house or working out.  NOT out in public unless you want to be fined (in some states) for you not knowing how to find the right size to fit your behind.  If you are seriously over the age of 25 years old still wearing you pants around you hips. That's an epic #FAIL on your part.  So, I took a look at some the Men's Spring 2011 Fashion Shows and found some very intriguing pieces from some of my favorite Menswear designers.
