Artist Appreciation: Michelle Robinson

Michelle Robinson
My first artist appreciation of the year 2013 goes to an artist that I truly admire.  Michelle Robinson has sparked a fire in my own artwork to not only continue with my art and illustrations but to be part of a creative movement of women artists (not like I can quit and yes I have tried).  I tumbled across one of her artworks on tumblr and was awed by her work.  Her intricate design and detail of these beautiful women she creates are amazing and I became an immediate groupie following her on instagram.  Only to wake up with several likes and comments from Michelle herself on my instagram.  :)  There's nothing like 'artist love' that can really warm the heart and inspire the mind.   Especially among women artists!

Here's a great interview of Michelle and her artwork on her paintings of 'The Goddess Bus' for The Goddess Project a really cool project that features two female filmmakers filming women across the U.S. overcoming their fears and realizing their potential.

Here's a few my favorites from Michelle.  They are all so beautiful!

"The Door" A short fashion film featuring Miu Miu Spring 2013

Film directed by Ava Duvernay

Bad Break-up? It's nothing like some good girlfriends to pull you through the rough times. I absolutely loved this short silent fashion film called "The Door" featuring some great starlets: Alfre Woodard, Gabrielle Union, singer-songwriter Goapele, Emayatzy Corinealdi, and Adepero Oduye. What a beautiful film featuring some amazing pieces from Miu Miu Spring 2013 Collection!

The Beyonce Bowl.

Three words: The Beyonce Bowl. What a show, what a show indeed! This is a performer. A true entertainer. Say what you want about lip singing and all that ridiculousness but you really can not say she did not show stop everything.  Literally.  The power going out in the Super Dome I still believe was her.

Five reasons why I loved the Beyonce Bowl.

1. Women Power!

The "you go girl" mentality in an a final showdown of one of the most male dominated sport of football is priceless. Including Alicia Keys, Jennifer Hudson and Destiny's Child I enjoyed every bit of their performances.

2. What a Band!  The Sugamama's were hittin'. All women, all rocking out to the best! Awesome.

3.  As in DC 3!  Looked amazing!

4. The Stage set and props were awesome! When the hair moved I shrieked a little.

5. Beyonce's energy was electric!  Goosebumps and all. There's no denying her talent and performance skills!

She came, she delivered and she conquered.  The Best Superbowl Ever! #BeyonceBowl
