She's One Today. Celebration Le Mahogany Fashionista's One years old.

I bought her from GoDaddy.com and named her Le Mahogany Fashionista (.com)   And what a year we've had.  I love posting on her, she's finding her niche slowly but surely.  I get follower emails from fellow fashionistas all around the world, making connections, sharing fashion information, projects for example: featuring my first illustration magazine feature with Merh Magazine.  Yup, I have to say I am really proud of my fashionista baby.  Now, that she's going on to her second year.  There's always tweaks need to be done  and of course so much more I need to know about the blogging world.  And to think, I was honestly going to leave her alone.  (tisk)

I have learned so much from Le Mahogany Fashionista.com  As, she continues on,  she seems to get others inspired to do some blogging of their own.  Which is truly flattering.

So, I'm in the middle of making my first anniversary piece, thought I would have finished by now. But, I am giving you guys a bit of taste.

this is it so far

It's runway watchers sister painting.

She's not quite down but, will be soon.  I am working on one other important gift for a dear friend, its drawn out just needs to be painted and I have t-minus 3 days to complete.  (It's deadline city, folks)  And between get-togethers with friends and family for my own b-day weekend.  I fell behind a bit.  (Darn B-day)  I have managed to complete two painting though for my very special friends who had recently graduated from college (Let's raise a glass to the college grads)  Entitled: Celia and JP because that's their names. Beyonce.

"Did you see the video?"  "Girl, did she have work done on her nose?" "I know she got a boob job" "She looks lighter than usual?"  "I hate that song."  "She's gone crazy"  "She looks okay."  "Why did she look like that?"  "I loved it."  "I love anything she does"

Those are just some of the comments I heard as I was getting my hair done at my favorite hair salon.  Of course I was one of the ones that watched it online right when Beyonce's new video premiered.  When I saw it for the first time, I had to see it for a second time and then a third and a fourth due to the overload of amazing dancing and.....its freakin' Beyonce people!!! She is truely one of my girl crushes and my mouth dropped open from all the mouth watering designers she was wearing.  I recognized three designers she was wearing right of the bat:

Alexander McQueen +Beyonce and her female army.  Sic (that's a good thing)

Givenchy Couture

Gaultier Couture

And last but not least the Gareth Pugh Starship Enterprise Shoes. Rid-ic-lous! Love them. Wow.

Her album entitled 4. (Genius) Comes out June 28th, 2011.  I will buy it.  Just for the album cover alone.

Here's why I love Beyonce:

This woman's work
1. No one can deny she is one of the hardest working women in show business.

Always incorporates the unexpected
2. 3 women, in dance leotard tights and black and white footage: SINGLE LADIES enough said
(yes, she copied off of the dance style of Fosse and some Broadway musical which leads to may third one)

She's a PERFORMER.
3.  I would pay money to see her perform.  She sings, she dances, she's fierce all at the same time.

Okay, I'm done praising her achievements because I am a true fan of her's

Here it is: Run the World(Girls)-Beyonce

Oh and check out the bizzare but, amazing footwork dancing sequence in the beginning:

When I get my hands on these fabrics.....

Hey followers!  (Waving Hi at some of the new Google friend followers) I know it has been awhile since I have posted.  For one, Blogger was down for a few days as some of you fellow bloggers know (rolling eyes) but, I am very happy to see that it is up and running now YAY!  So, I have few posts to contribute today and update everyone on my one year anniversary of Le Mahogany Fashionista!! May 23rd which is also my b-day.

Anyways, as most of you know COLOR is truly resurrected from the dead this Spring/Summer season and I am loving the prints and stripes!  So, when I saw this website from one of my favorite international magazine ARISE website.

I fell in love.  The company Vlisco has been around since 1846 that designs and produces these amazing fabrics.  I love their ad campaigns, they are so inspiring that I actually started to sketch a bit.

Hats, Hats, Hats: Who knew that hats could be so Fierce.

I know, I know, I know.  I am sure that everyone is tired of hearing about the Royal Wedding but I had to blog post about the Royal Wedding guests hats.  Hats off to them for some very fierce hats that the guests were wearing.  I found them very inspiring and I am currently working on illustrating a few.  So, paintings are in the works. :)

Here are some of my favorites:
The Spencer Daughters: Lady Amelia, Lady Eliza and Lady Kitty (Princess Diana's Nieces)

The Beckhams-Victoria Beckham just a fierce woman herself

Princess Beatrice of York. Interesting selection but, I still love it.

Frances Osborn, I love the flowers and feathers combo

Miriam Gonzalez, Love the turban look

Sophie Wickleman, Navy blue fierce hat

Sophie, Countess of Wessex

My London hat, from Snoxell-Gwyther I've had for 10 years now.

So, hats.  I never was a really big hat person but, I am loving the Royals wearing them so fiercely. They are so fun, corky, crazy and even somewhat elegant.  Bravo to some the guest at the Royal wedding and Congratulations to the Royal couple William and Kate.
