Playboy Bunny Outfit

The Bunnies Outfit
Yes.  The Playboy Bunny Outfit
It's an American Iconic costume piece that is associated with Playboy Magazine.  i have to admit it's sexy with its suggestive bustier but has a quirky, playful side with its fun loving rabbit ears.  What I come to find out that 'the playboy bunny outfit' was created by Zelda Wynn Valdes a Black fashion/costume designer who was known for highlighting a woman's curves in her designs.  Who better to know a woman's body than a woman herself!  I was inspired by the vintage outfit and wanted to try my hand a sketching a few illustrations then came the paints.....

Black Bunnies.

Then multiplying like rabbits they started to spout everywhere from my mind to my brushes and unto the canvases!

Three Bunnies

And they are pretty much a collection, now.   Just in time for Easter!

My First Etsy Sale! And New Artworks!

Black Elegance. She's out my life.
And just as my ipod touch chi, chinged to say I had an Etsy order and after the ridiculous jumping and silent rejoicing I did afterwards, "Black Elegance" was sold and out of my life.  She's headed to Texas now but she's my very first Etsy sale! Yay!  Hopefully many more to follow, I guess they say once you sale one you start to sale often.  In which is what I am praying for.  If your a creative like me, you love to create  but, the logistics selling  your products, the SEO's , the keywords, the social media marketing can get exhausting and daunting.  But the hard work and persistence paid off and made many mistakes along the way but I am much wiser now and humbly ready for the next steps of selling my artworks.

So, back to the new stuff! As I try to polish up my LeMahogany Men I had squeezed in some new artworks I hope you like! Go over to my Etsy Shop for new listings!

Like the one featured below!

Pre Fall 13' Donna Karan Illustration (Follow Up)

My Illustration of Donna Karan Pre-Fall 13'

Fashion week is just around the corner! I can't wait for New York Fashion Week #NYFW (livestream) shows!  Pre-fall 13' showings have came and went.  Here's a follow-up illustration I did based off my blog post on my favorite pre-fall 13' look.  The more I illustrated it reminded me of a Vogue photo of Marilyn Monroe on her last photo shoot before she died.

Marilyn Monroe, September 1962
The dress speaks volumes and the mystery behind the photo is sort of haunting.  What is Marilyn thinking? What is on her mind?  I think its an amazing photograph and along with a great Donna Karan Pre-Fall 13' Collection.

The Gentleman Theory: My Fall 13' Menswear Favorite Burberry

I absolutely love a man who knows how to dress. A well dressed man really heightens the or my senses.  It's sort of a radar for me: a tailored single breasted slate grey suit with a Windsor knotted tie. (Nostrils flared)  Or a relaxed style of a crisp white button down shirt with a black skinny tie and black creased dress pant....(already drooling).  Men's fashions has really evolved.

Over the past years it seems men are sort of stepping up their game when it comes to how they look. Details are being payed attention to.  Groomings are a must instead of when you would need to go somewhere nice.  The Basketball and Football jerseys are now strictly for the courts or games instead worn out in public.

Burberry Menswear Fall 13'

Burberry Menswear Fall 2013'
Should we thank Mr. Beckham or Mr. West for making fashion a second sense to have?  Is it now a turn to the modern day dapper?

I decided to take my turn at illustrating men to see what I come up with......drawing men is more difficult then I thought............. I am practicing. ^_^

Pre-Fall 13' Fave: Donna Karan

There's something very alluring about volume in fabrics.  I 'm seeing a lot of shapes forming this Pre-Fall 13' and it makes me wonder what's around the corner from my favorite fashion designers this season.  February just around the bend and NYFW will be set to run its course soon! I have to say that I fell in love Donna Karan pre-fall 13' looks.

So much so that I started prepping to illustrate two of my favorites tonight.

Loving the va, va, va volume to the coat and the crop jacket with the see through cutout dress. It is Divine!  Let the painting begin.  Good Morning, Good Afternoon and Good Evening readers
XOXO!

Welcome to Emerald City: The Color of 2013

Gold Accessories with Emerald pieces = Perfection!

The official color of 2013 according to Pantone is Emerald (Emerald 17-5641). The Pantone group described it as 'Lively, Radiant and Lush'.  I could not agree more.  The color Emerald has a great energy to it and its also my birthstone :).  I see myself incorporating some Emerald color pieces in my wardrobe this spring season.

Viola Davis at the 84th Academy Awards
When I think of the color Emerald what came to mind was Viola Davis at the 84th Academy Awards and how divine she looked.  She was glowing in the Emerald Vera Wang.  She looked absolutely radiant at last years award show and with her natural cropped hair: this was a winning combination of beauty and elegance.

Solange Knowles and my Style Muse Illustration of Solange ^_^
I feel the color Emerald could be really fun this year!
Here's to a great color and a great year ahead.
Happy Thursday! A scene from one of my all time favorite movies: The Wiz and my favorite movie scene: Welcome to Emerald City

My Letter to the Year Called 2012

Dear 2012,

You were good.  No, you were a great year for me.  I personally deem you as the year of change.  Many lessons learned as life always serves and because of you (2012) I am a better woman because of them.  I examined what I had tolerated for so long.  Some friendships lost but I gained valuable and amazing ones mid year.  Discovering the value of my art and my craft and how it affects others all around the world.  My re-connection with my other side of my family has filled a void that I've missed and longed for. I love getting to know my ancestry history and where I actually came from.  I no longer feel lost.  I know why I am the way that I am.  When you can stand firm on your values, know your history,  know your beliefs and your spirituality, you are truly a powerful person.  I am not trying to sound like I am so 'Enlightened' that I am not human but, 2012 thanks to you my 2013 can only get better for me. Also, discovered that FEAR IS A BIG, FAT LIAR.

Many talk about New Years resolutions but, I'm not that traditional anymore.  It's never worked for me in the past so I choose to do a different 'resolution'.  It's called "The Act of Now".  I stopped talking so much future and started talking now.  I pray for patience as I continue my journey and have the confidence to know that through God anything is possible.  God may not answer when you want him to but, he's ALWAYS on time.  So, I am continuing my journey of life on the path where the light shines and look to HIM for the answers because you and I both know man (meaning the human race) may not have your best intentions at heart. My spirit of intuition is stronger, my mind set is changed for the better, my heart is ready to receive and I am ready to give and bless others no matter how big or small.

So, thank you 2012 and tell your brother 2013 I will see him soon.

Love, Robin

One Year Anniversary Piece

Bonjour Everyone!  It's been awhile since I had posted a post.  Between, my birthday, being a bridesmaid at one of good friend's wedding, grad parties, going away parties I barely had time to myself.  Summer just sort of snuck up on me and It's SUMMER! Yay!  I never thought the sunshine, the 70-80 degrees would ever come.  But, its here and I am going to enjoy every bit of it.  I have managed to finish my One year Anniversary Piece as promised in my last post.   Here it is!

Runway Watchers 2

Runway Watchers 2

Runway Watcher 2 will be available in my Etsy shop!  So, excited for this piece because it felt like it took forever to complete.  Between a busy, emotional, tough couple of weeks, I managed to finish!  Yay!  On my inspirational blog: Inside the Imagination and Visionary Mind of Robin-my tumblr blog.  I reblogged a quote that was inspiring to me.

Which is so true for this particular piece.  I kept going to the piece and either working on something different or just not feeling like doing it.  But, when I actually let go of my worries, doubts, fears and its just my paints and music that's all I needed to complete this piece.  Leave me a comment and let me know what you think.

:)
