Welcome to Emerald City: The Color of 2013

Gold Accessories with Emerald pieces = Perfection!

The official color of 2013 according to Pantone is Emerald (Emerald 17-5641). The Pantone group described it as 'Lively, Radiant and Lush'.  I could not agree more.  The color Emerald has a great energy to it and its also my birthstone :).  I see myself incorporating some Emerald color pieces in my wardrobe this spring season.

Viola Davis at the 84th Academy Awards
When I think of the color Emerald what came to mind was Viola Davis at the 84th Academy Awards and how divine she looked.  She was glowing in the Emerald Vera Wang.  She looked absolutely radiant at last years award show and with her natural cropped hair: this was a winning combination of beauty and elegance.

Solange Knowles and my Style Muse Illustration of Solange ^_^
I feel the color Emerald could be really fun this year!
Here's to a great color and a great year ahead.
Happy Thursday! A scene from one of my all time favorite movies: The Wiz and my favorite movie scene: Welcome to Emerald City

My Letter to the Year Called 2012

Dear 2012,

You were good.  No, you were a great year for me.  I personally deem you as the year of change.  Many lessons learned as life always serves and because of you (2012) I am a better woman because of them.  I examined what I had tolerated for so long.  Some friendships lost but I gained valuable and amazing ones mid year.  Discovering the value of my art and my craft and how it affects others all around the world.  My re-connection with my other side of my family has filled a void that I've missed and longed for. I love getting to know my ancestry history and where I actually came from.  I no longer feel lost.  I know why I am the way that I am.  When you can stand firm on your values, know your history,  know your beliefs and your spirituality, you are truly a powerful person.  I am not trying to sound like I am so 'Enlightened' that I am not human but, 2012 thanks to you my 2013 can only get better for me. Also, discovered that FEAR IS A BIG, FAT LIAR.

Many talk about New Years resolutions but, I'm not that traditional anymore.  It's never worked for me in the past so I choose to do a different 'resolution'.  It's called "The Act of Now".  I stopped talking so much future and started talking now.  I pray for patience as I continue my journey and have the confidence to know that through God anything is possible.  God may not answer when you want him to but, he's ALWAYS on time.  So, I am continuing my journey of life on the path where the light shines and look to HIM for the answers because you and I both know man (meaning the human race) may not have your best intentions at heart. My spirit of intuition is stronger, my mind set is changed for the better, my heart is ready to receive and I am ready to give and bless others no matter how big or small.

So, thank you 2012 and tell your brother 2013 I will see him soon.

Love, Robin

The Met Ball 2012: Best dressed...and the thanks for trying.

This past week I was excited to see some amazing costumes as the stars, designers, models and music artists, the who's who walked the red carpet live.  Thank you Vogue for streamlining live at the Met! (Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC).  It was pretty neat and makes me love technology even more.  If you don't know here's a little bit of what I am talking about.

Love Bruno Mars, anyways I am sure you seen some familiar faces.  But, let's talk red carpet shall we? I have few that I would like speak on that I thought deserved some major attention.

Paula Patton, in Vera Wang...the lilac color, the bodice of this dress speaks wonders.
Award for the best in soft color.

Karolina Kurkova in Rachel Zoe...the head wrap, the cut of the back=perfection.
Award for Best in Originality.

Tim Tebow in Ralph Lauren Purple Label. Smh.  maybe it was the camera angle but, this was not it.  We are going to have pray on this one, dude.  The cut seems odd and baggy paints on a suit reminds me of Zoot suit. Eek.
Award for the worst tailoring to an athletic body.

Joan Smalls in Balmain with the Designer Oliver Rousteing.  It's like looking that 16th Chapel on a bronze body.
Award for Best in Craftsmanship.

January Jones in Atelier Versace, The mix of metal in the corseted  bodice and the construction fit on January is very nice.
Best Award for Architecture Design.

Beyonce Knowles, in Givenchy Couture.  Black and Indigo on this Greek, curvaceous body.  I can not say....anything but stare at her.
Best Award for SSA- Stop and Stare and Awe.

Lala Anthony in Zac Posen and Carmelo Anthony in Rag and Bone
Best Dressed Couple of the Night

Angela Lindvallin in Prada, Love the pattern and design of this.
Best Dressed in capturing Prada.

Kristen Stewart in Balenciaga with designer Nicolas Ghesquiere.
Best Award for WTH are you wearing? Yikes.

Dakota Fanning in Louis Vuitton.  Ummm...this isn't prom.
Best Award in mistaking high school prom to the Met Gala. :/

Elizabeth Banks in Mary Katrantzcu. ....I just not sure what to think of this.  She looks constrained.
Best Award for the uncomfortableness.

By the way, the Met Gala costume institute exhibit is entitled:  Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations:  two Italian designers: Elsa Schiaparelli and Miuccia Prada  from different eras having a conversation about their design aesthetics, culture and themselves as a designer.  It's pretty neat.  They are somewhat different but, similar in their designs of pushing the limits on classic and traditional designs.  Elsa Schiaparelli is played by actress Judy Davis.

My top three favorite in the next post.....:0)

Sleek and Sexy design from one the best-Tom Ford Fall 2012

Sleek Design from a man who says he loves to build things and loves to create things.  A true perfectionist and it shows.   I love Tom Ford such an amazing visionary and an amazing creative mind.  A few years ago he had returned to designing womenswear and I was ridiculously excited and he did not disappointment. Check out my Last Tom Ford blog post

Inspirational:

In a sea of many great and talented fashion designers, Tom Ford is truly rare, creative fashion designer.   He's part of my list of my list of people that I would love to just sit and have coffee with.   And I don't even like coffee. ^_^

The high and low price of Fashion: Major fashion house Versace covering all bases=Smart

Hey Everyone! We are rounding out the first month of the year and I have to say for me, I see its going to be a year of change.  And I am ready for it.  This Sunday morning I decided to check out the couture seasons of Chanel, Christian Dior, Givenchy, Valentino...you know the majority of  the fellas that create amazing pieces of couture for the fashion houses.  But, I noticed Versace was on the roster.  (scratching head)  Now, I really didn't think that Versace was into the couture seasons but, it turns out its been about eight years since they showed in couture shows.  And I have to say Dontella "Bellissima"  Absolutely breathtaking!

I think the Versace fashion house was very smart in join the ranks with the other fashion houses and designers on catering to the lower price range at one of my favorite shops H&M.  Now, I know it came and went in which yet again.............. I missed out on  all of the frenzy in throwing elbows and pushes to get a piece of something Versace. (Just like I did with Missoni for Target)  But, here's a fashion show in New York showing some of the great Versace pieces.  Look hard enough you may see a few recognizable celebrities (^_^)

Gucci, Gucci Spring 2012 Collection

Sometimes I find myself a little late on what is "hip" now with some of the younger kids.  I heard this song and some may know this song called Gucci, Gucci by music artist named Kreyshawn   Well, if you care (And can stomach references of smoking, and the obsessive use of the B***** (Click here). ...There's a chorus line that says: "Gucci, Gucci, Louie, Louie, Fendi, Fendi, Prada  basic B**** wear that s*** so I don't even bother."  (Insert Extreme side eye) There is nothing "basic" about this Gucci collection.  The architectural shapes of the tuxedo jacket, the slick lines of the Art Deco influence....mmm...these pieces are heaven walking.

In Love with high wasted pant and jacket.

Loving the Dramatics of the Eyes

I love the power behind this collection.  It's sort of reminiscent of the Tom Ford Gucci days that I miss so much. The Strong lines, settle but yet sexy design.  It had such a cool comfortable look and Frida has done an amazing job as creative director of Gucci.

Done.  Absolutely Gorgeous.

So...as a fashion enthusiast I have got to say that not only am I inspired by this collection. I really feel strongly when I say this for anyone who calls a 90 year fashion house-Basic.....You are truly ignorant of taste and class.  But, to each its own. ; )

Dreaming of Fall. (Fall 2011 Collections)

Hola Ladies and Gents!  I know it has been awhile and I apologize for the delayed posting but, TADA here I am.  I have finally found some time this Sunday right before my favorite show comes on True Blood.  To post some amazing finds I found for Fall.  I am slowly but surely becoming an Apple product user and found a great app of the Fashion Network where I am able view full recent fashion shows!  Yay!  Its great! I love it.  Here's my five favorite looks/trends for this Fall Season and I can not wait to incorporate in the my wardrobe.

1. Prada-All sudden I started to pay attention to Prada but, Miuccia Prada must have stepped up her creative team since last season because I am liking what she's doing:

Bold Prints/Bright Colors Hearts
How could snake skin look so good?  Haute!
I can see my laptop in this.

Delicious Periwinkle Color+ The Mary Jane type boot=(Hearts in Eyes)

2. Lavin.  I love Alber Elbaz.  I love a man who knows how to dress a women.  I absolutely love the proportions he is using in the tailoring and fluidity of his fabrics.  Billowy, fluid and absolutely elegant.  Here's a few of my favs.
Killer Encrusted sparkly Rose belt. (dead)
Love the cut of this dress. Fluid but yet tailored.  Perfection in Mustard.
A Detail shot of one of Lavin dresses.  Amazing tailoring.
 Team Lavin!
 3. Doo Ri

Ever since watching the amazing documentary SeamlessDoo Ri has been on my fashion radar as one to keep watching.   I advice every fashionista/designer to rent this documentary.  Its a few years old but relevant and true story when it comes to launching your own fashion label.

The slated gray are fantastic for fall.

 Love the high-waisted trouser

4 Marc Jacobs (The Man's a Genius)

Polka Dots. What? For Fall? Yes and it works.

Yes.
 Blue Polka Dot Skirt. YeS!

YES!

Elegant. (no other words) It just works.
I have been a huge fan of Marc Jacobs for awhile and this Fall collection I agree with the polka dots.  It just works for me.  I would at least be getting polka dots tights from somewhere this season.

5. Last but not least Paul Smith.  He's made senior citizen meets the professor wear look good on women.  I love it.

 Fuchsia Tailored Pant #winning
Punch of Orange with all dark muted colors another #winning

So, there you have it.  Tailored trouser, snake skin accessories and surprising polka dots and the amazing flare of a color palette to work with this Fall season. One thing is a must this season, I need to find a great tailor.
